Skopje can proudly offer its guests a large number of contents with a cultural and entertaining character, as it is a special blend of civilizational, cultural and natural beauties and rarities. The most visited cultural sites in the city are the Old Bazaar of Skopje and the Monastery of St. Panteleimon. The city’s landmarks are the Kale Fortress and the Stone Bridge. The fortress rises above the city and peacefully overlooks its vastness. According to archaeologists, the first known inhabitants of this place lived in the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age, 4,000 years B.C. The stone bridge over the river Vardar connects the square “Macedonia” with the Old Bazaar of Skopje. The most famous and deepest cave “Vrelo” in Matka Canyon, only 10 km from Skopje, is an undiscovered treasure for speleologists. The true depth of the underwater cave has not yet been determined, it seems to be over 230 meters, and therefore some consider the Vrelo cave to be the deepest underwater cave in Europe.
